Sab Dextrose Agar is recommended for the isolation of pathogenic yeasts and fungi from clinical specimens.

• The addition of Chloramphenicol inhibits the growth of a broad spectrum of gram negative and gram positive bacteria.

• The addition of Gentamicin inhibits the growth of gram negative bacteria.Chloramphenicol and Gentamicin play a role in inhibiting the large majority of contaminating bacteria present in clinical specimen.
